Startups need to work with various stakeholders like any other business entity. Stakeholders such as employees, consultants etc have access to important intellectual properties of the business on a regular basis. A startup that relies heavily on various intellectual property rights (IPR), must ensure that those intellectual properties (IP) are fairly protected. 

The Indian government has launched the Startup India campaign to encourage the youth of the nation to start their own businesses. However, the new innovations need protection to encourage others to think of newer ideas and put them into action. Under the same initiative, the Government of India has launched the Scheme for Facilitating Startups Intellectual Property Protection (SIPP) in January 2016. This scheme was launched in order to protect startup ideas and promote their IPR. 

Protecting one’s intellectual property can be highly challenging. This requires a thorough understanding of the rules of the game. This is not so simple for everyone to understand and act upon, especially at an early stage of their startup lifecycle.
